TIES THAT BIND
The first session will open tomorrow Sunday 25th April within the frame of the Udine Far East Film Festival

UDINE – After the successful 2009 pilot edition, the Asian-European partnership consisting of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Audiovisual Regional Fund, Udine Far East Film Festival, EAVE and the Pusan International Film Festival, is pleased to announce the launch of EAVE Ties that Bind, a new development workshop for Asian and European film producers. Out of a large number of applications, 10 producers from China, Germany, Ireland, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, and the UK have been selected to work on their feature projects during two four day workshops held in Udine from April 25-28 2010 and Pusan from October 10-13, 2010. The first session within the frame of the Udine Far East Film Festival (Udine, 23rd April – 1st May), will take place in Palazzo Morpurgo and focus on script development, co-production between Asia and Europe, financing in the two regions, marketing and promotion, and the legal aspects of co-production. The second session will culminate in Pusan in 2010 with meetings between the workshop participants and leading Asian and European funders and sales agents. The main aim of EAVE Ties That Bind is to create long term networking opportunities meant to encourage further co-production and wider distribution of independent features in each other’s continents. The EAVE Ties That Bind workshop is primarily funded by a new EU initiative – MEDIA International whose support is crucial for strengthening independent production in Europe and beyond as well as the cooperation and distribution of works between Europe and other parts of the world. Only when different experiences meet it is possible to give birth to new projects and innovative ideas.
