Far East In Progress 2020

Far East In Progress is the only exclusive work-in progress section for Asian films in Europe.
The first edition of this section will take place within the programme of FOCUS ASIA | FEFF and will present up to 6 upcoming Asian feature films in post-production looking for festival premiere and international sales agents. Selected teams will have the chance to present their works and screen max 10′ of their films to a large panel of international sales agents, festival programmers and buyers from both Europe and Asia. 
The Far East In Progress selection committee headed by Marie-Pierre Valle (WILD BUNCH), will select up to 6 films.
The platform represents a natural follow up for films previously presented in Asia project markets or developed at workshops such as Ties That Bind. 


Please note: the deadline for submitting a project to Far East In Progress is June 1, 2020.

All application materials and subtitles should be in English.
The selection committee's decisions cannot be appealed.

The project should have a director and/or majority producer from any East Asian territories (Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Laos, Macau, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam).
Submissions should include: a complete online submission form in English and video material with a minimum duration of 30 minutes and with English subtitles.
The video material submitted can be selected scenes, first assembly or rough cut with a minimum duration of 30 minutes.
The video is mandatory to be available via streaming service password protected (e.g. Vimeo). No transfer services or cloud storage is accepted.
Incomplete applications will not be taken into consideration.

The project should be a feature fiction film with theatrical and international market potential.
No specific themes or styles are preferred. There are no other specific fixed criteria and each individual project will be considered on its own merits, its cinematic language and the artistic imprint of the director.
Projects should be new or recent.
Projects should not have been presented at any public screenings in Europe.
The project can be in different stages of post-production.
The project should have a director and/or majority producer from any East Asian territories

There is no entry fee for applications and no participation fee.
Costs that will be covered upon selection: partial travel reimbursement, accommodation and industry accreditation to FOCUS ASIA.
Once a project has been selected, at least one project representative should attend Far East In Progress.
Finished films that participated in this section should display its logo in their credits. The following sentence should be mentioned in the credit list: "This project has participated at Far East In Progress" together with the FEFF logo.

Thanks to the partnership with 108 MEDIA, all selected films at Far East In Progress will be in the running for the 108 MEDIA Award (distribution award of the value of USD 20,000).
