The programme for Saturday 27 April
It's time for The Roundup: Punishment, fourth chapter of the action-packed detective saga!
Eager anticipation also for the historic reunion of Tony Leung Chiu-wai and Andy Lau with crime thriller The Goldfinger.
International success arrived with Train to Busan, Yeon Sang-ho's nerve-wracking zombie-disaster movie, but the FEFF and Tucker Film had already begun rooting for him after spotting him in Kim Jee-won's The Good, the Bad, the Weird and Ryoo Seung-wan's The Unjust. After all, how could you not root for the legendary Don Lee, idol of South Korean moviegoers? The fourth day of FEFF 26, where the Italian preview of The Roundup: Punishment will be presented, definitely bears his name. And Don Lee 'sbone-breaking punches and slaps are guaranteed to keep all Fareasters entertained!
The irresistible detective saga of which Punishment is the fourth chapter put the seal on his popularity with the public, thanks to the character of two-fisted cop Ma Seok-do (“Monster Cop” to his buddies). A saga that began with The Outlaws and which went on to generate three more chapters of visceral fight scenes and breathtaking action: The Roundup, The Roundup: No Way Out and now, The Roundup: Punishment. But that's not all: to the delight of his Italian fans, Tucker Film has decided to purchase the entire quadrilogy, expanding a catalogue of which Don Lee is now very much a part (in addition to the films mentioned above, let's not forget splendid noir The Gangster, the Cop, the Devil)!
But we obviously mustn't forget that the fourth day, which is bursting with other unmissable titles such as incredible sci-fi cult movie Motion Picture: Choke or midnight Thai horror The Train of Death, will also be playing host to a reunion as surprising as it is historic: that of Tony Leung Chiu-wai and Andy Lau! If Infernal Affairs is the cult movie that we all venerate, and that the FEFF presented to its audiences in 2003, it's now time to dream again: here is The Goldfinger, a splendid crime thriller written by Felix Chong (yes, the same Felix Chong who wrote Infernal Affairs) which FEFF 26 will be presenting in collaboration with the Emperor Group of Hong Kong!
