TIES THAT BIND unveils the 2022 selection!

For its 14th edition, TIES THAT BIND (TTB), the leading workshop programme connecting professionals from Asia and Europe, announces the selection of 26 participants including directors coming from 14 countries. 

TTB takes place over a year through 2 workshops offering comprehensive knowledge of the European and Asian film industries and markets. The participants benefit from high-level development under the guidance of top-notch experts from both continents and have the opportunity to meet with key decision makers during the edition of TCCF – Taiwan Creative Content Fest (Taipei), and FOCUS ASIA, the Industry Section of the Udine Far East Film Festival (Italy). 

The first workshop has been held form November 7 to 11, 2022 in Taipei and the participants worked together in a group led by Jani Thiltges (Samsa Film, LUX) and TTB graduate Bianca Balbuena (Kroma Entertainment, PH). The second workshop will take place from April 24 to 28, 2023 in Udine (Italy) during Focus Asia and Far East Film Festival.


TTB Head of Studies Christophe Bruncher (Ici et Là Productions, FR) has put together a team of leading industry professionals: script consultant Clare Downs (UK), financing and legal expert Jean-Baptiste Babin (Backup Media Group, FR), Patrick Mao Huang (Flash Forward Entertainment, TW), Guillaume De la Boulaye (Zorba, FR) and Eiko Mizuno (Loaded Films, JP).

The following 20 participants focusing on project development with feature films in development and 6 participants focusing on career development wanting to extend their knowledge and network towards Asia have been selected to participate in TTB 2022:

Furthermore, thanks to the partnership with TAICCA, the second TIES THAT BIND ON DEMAND workshop took place between November 6 - 8, 2022 in the framework of Taiwan Creative Content Fest (TCCF), and following the successful EAVE methodology, 7 selected Taiwanese producers worked on the development of their feature and documentary projects under the guidance of EAVE core experts such as the group leader Riina Sildos (Amrion, EE), script consultant Nayeem Mahbub (SE/BD), documentary consultant Estelle Robin You (Point du Jour, FR), pitching expert Stefano Tealdi (Stefilm, IT), financing expert Jean-Baptiste Babin (Backup Media Group, FR), production expert Bradley Liew (Epicmedia Production, PH) and sales consultant Keiko Funato (Alphaviolet., FR).

The next call, for TIES THAT BIND 2023 / 2024, will be launched in May, 2023

TIES THAT BIND is organised by the Friuli Venezia Giulia Audiovisual Fund, EAVE, Udine Far East Film Festival and Taiwan Creative Content Agency (TAICCA) and supported by the Creative Europe - MEDIA sub-programme of the European Union. European Audiovisual Entrepreneurs, EAVE, is a professional training, project, development and networking organisation for audiovisual producers. Working with a worldwide network of partners we are involved in programmes for producers in Europe, Russia, Latin America, the Arab world, Asia and Africa.

 

FVG Audiovisual Fund 
First experience in the Italian panorama, the aim of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Audiovisual Regional Fund is to support the development of local film companies and promote the regional audiovisual works in national and international markets. The Fund operates in three main sectors: training, to encourage the participation of local audiovisual professional in national and international courses for directors, scriptwriters, producers, editors, camera operators, and sound engineers; development, to cover all the activities between the idea and the production phase, from the script writing and the research, to the casting, the fundraising and the presentation of a promo; distribution, along with the promotion of the projects, this last action includes a financial support to cover the production expenses, so as to create more competitive products.
Along with the ordinary management of the fund, the FVG AUDIOVISUAL FUND has organized several events aimed at creating platforms for cinema professionals from all around the world and developing the local audiovisual industry.

 

Far East Film Festival 
Established in Udine (Italy) in 1999 after the success achieved in 1998 by the Hong Kong Film focus, Far East Film is about to reach its 24th edition, and still represents a unique opportunity to experience current trends in East and South-East Asian filmmaking.
Every year, during its nine days of screenings, Far East Film offers the chance to watch the most successful recent Asian releases as well as staging important retrospectives. In the pleasant, informal and relaxing festival mood, the newest feature films from the Far East are presented along with tributes and focuses on specific directors.
Since 2016, FEFF also hosts its own industry section called FOCUS ASIA that brings together over 120 producers, investors, sales and buyers from Asia and Europe, and which includes a Project Market for films in development and a series of Panels & Case Studies dedicated to the latest trends in European and Asian cinema.


TAICCA - Taiwan Creative Content Agency

Taiwan Creative Content Agency (TAICCA), established in June 2019 and supervised by the Ministry of Culture, is a professional intermediary organization that promotes the development of Taiwan’s content industries. TAICCA supports various cultural content industries in Taiwan, including film and television, pop music, publishing, ACG, and fashion, artworks and cultural technologies.
With advanced information and communication technology infrastructure and emerging technologies in Taiwan, TAICCA manages the National Development Fund to develop intellectual property (IP), incubate culture technologies, and facilitate startups.
Through international distribution channels, TAICCA strives to promote Taiwan’s cultural brand in the world.
