A bowl found among the ruins of the family home is the beginning of a paradoxical odyssey for Xu Chaoying. As he tries to learn its value, it takes him from his village to Beijing and reunites him with his struggling screenwriter son. Through art markets, zoos (because there are even zoos in this bizarre journey) and film supply warehouses, Xu Lei offers us an intimate, ironic, surreal and touching journey.
