Cheap Killers

Sexy, violent and completely over-the-top, Cheap Killersis Hong Kong director Clarence Fok's best exploitation picture since his international cult success, Naked Killer. The movie oozes trashy style, with slow- motion action, dark lighting, evocative colours, a powerful super-vamp, blood-stained triads and plenty of exotic music. Not surprisingly, it was made for Naked Killer's same producer - one-man film industry Wong Jing. Basically centred on two killers' downward death spiral, the film gets straight down to business with playboy Yat-tiu (Sunny Chan) and his more serious partner Sam Cool (Alex Fong) forced to kill their arms supplier, Ma (veteran actor Ku Feng), when Ma catches Yat-tiu fooling around with his pretty young wife, Ling (Kathy Chau). The two gangsters, however, get their come-uppance when they are betrayed by their boss (Fong Ping) and Ling: Yat-tiu has his hand chopped off and is buggered by their boss' gang members. Two years later, Yat-tiu is a drug- crazed vegetable, cared for by Sam, who has major revenge on his mind... The whole cast is on top form, with an amazing transformation by Chau from compliant Mainland wife to ruthless, cigar-smoking super-bitch. It's a performance to rival Carrie Ng's in Naked Killer.
