Art of the Devil 2

“Creepy every two minutes.” The slogan plus the spooky trailer and movie posters, which firstly did not pass the censor board, kept a number of locals to stay away from watching Art Of The Devil 2. But once you decide to fight and overcome your fear, you will be surprised to find something in this lookalike sequel of Thanit Jitnukul’s Art Of The Devil (also being shown in FEFJ last year), more intertwined and superstiously logic.
A group of five friends go back to their hometown to join the funeral of their best friend’s father. Things happen and each of them disappears one by one. It looks like all incidents are involved with the pretty ex-teacher, Panor, who is also the second wife of the just-dead father. But this is something beyond normal stepmother-stepson conflicts. Panor is not cruel but in fact the victim of her own beauty. Men use black magic to flirt with her.
Art Of The Devil 2 follows the same theme as Art Of The Devil by employing the Asian beliefs in use of occult and black magic to fulfil one (bad) wishes. But this time, it comes out with more complex, doublecrossed and evil, co-crafted by the team of seven people, Kongkiat Khomsiri, Isara Nadee, Seree Pongpinit, Pasith Buranajan, Putipong Saisikaew, Art Thamtrakul, and Yosapong Polsap, under the so-called Ronin Team. The story is more superstiously logic, turning all the time, and indeed spooky every two minutes. Some scenes come out too violent that viewers hurry to close their eyes. Well, it is not the ghost that look scary. Disturbing art direction and quick editing stir up your stomach to throw out. Leading actress Napakpapar “Mamee” Nakprasit, showed her excellent performance as a pretty, young teacher who is victimized by her own beauty. However, some new stars who took the roles of six young students still need more movies to improve. Overall, this is recently one of Thailand’s most disturbing horrors.
