Robert Loma, an American painter who has come to Hong Kong in search of inspiration, falls in love with Suzie Wong. The fact that she is a prostitute and has a child doesn’t bother Robert, who decides to try and redeem her. She refuses, and when she disappears he loses his head and sets off in desperate search of her. Once he finds her, he manages to convince her to leave for America with him.
