Born in Kyoto in 1979 and active in Berlin since 2008, Midori Hirano's work moves in a perfect equilibrium between past and future and between experimentation and tradition, bringing together acoustic instruments like piano, strings and guitars with the most modern and experimental forms of electronic sounds. Her first official release,
LushRush, bewitched critics in 2006, and with 2008's
klo:yuri she took the path of experimentation and never looked back...
Her output incudes seven solo albums (the latest,
Soniscope, from 2021), hundreds of live performances (Boiler Room Berlin, Club Transmediale, Heroines of Sound Festival, Rotterdam International Film Festival, LEV Festival) and numerous productions for video installations, dance and cinema. Films she has scored have been screened at the Berlin International Film Festival, the Oberhausen International Short Film Festival, the Krakow Film Festival and the Hong Kong International Film Festival to name but a few.
So don't forget, the Far East Film Festival 24 will be taking place in Udine from the 22nd to the 30th of April in its headquarters at the Teatro Nuovo theatre and in the spaces of the Visionario, where Midori Hirano will be performing. An unmissable electro-acoustic set where Japanese harmonies will share the stage with the moods of soundtrack music.
